LIST OF ATTORNEYS
IN THE CONSULAR DISTRICT AS OF JULY 2003 Montevideo,
Uruguay
As required by the Department of State, below
is a list of attorneys who are active practitioners of good
repute, reside in the consular district, and are believed
to be qualified to perform legal services on behalf of U.S.
citizens or firms, give advice as to foreign law, and serve
in a fiduciary capacity or as a transactional intermediary.
The list includes attorneys who are fluent in English.
Credit reports can usually be obtained through banks or
through commercial reporting agencies. They are also available
from the Embassy Commercial Section.
Three American banks have branches in Montevideo: American
Express Bank, BankBoston and Citibank.
Mail rates from the United States to Uruguay are:
First-Class Air Mail (letter): $0.80 (Eighty cents) for
the first ounce; $1.55 (one dollar and fifty five cents)
for two ounces.
Priority Mail – International $ 15.85 (Fifteen dollars
and eighty five cents) up to one lb.
The consular district comprises all of Uruguay; some of
the Montevideo firms listed can provide names of affiliates
in the interior.
