Participants Information
ELIGIBILITY: You must be an active, retired, honorably discharged or civilian employee of a law enforcement agency. This will include: Police, Customs, Immigration, Military Police, Solicitor General, Justice, CSIS, Corrections, Fish & Wildlife, By-Law Enforcement, University and Railway Police. Teams: Members competing in team events need not be from the same agency. Spouses: Spouses of a competing law enforcement member, are also
eligible to compete in all events with the exception of TCA and SWAT. Identification
must be produced showing residence cohabitation. COMMAND CENTRE: R.A. CENTRE BOARDROOM, 2451 RIVERSIDE DR., OTTAWA, ONT. Wed. 8 am - 6 pm /
Thurs. 9 am - 5 pm Before the start of your event, ALL COMPETITORS are required to register in person at the command centre. You must bring your pictured agency I.D.. The Command Centre, will house the registration, sports, and souvenir
desks. All registered competitors will receive a souvenir of the Games. AGE DIVISION:

Age is determined as of the first day of competition in the sport entered. A competitor may elect to compete in a younger age division as long as this is indicated on the original application form. FEE STRUCTURE: Primary Sport: $37.45 (includes GST)

HOST HOTEL: The host hotel for this year is the Quality Hotel - Downtown, 290 Rideau
Street, Ottawa, Ontario. Phone (613) 789-7511 or fax (613) 789-2434 for
your accommodation needs. We have confirmed a special rate of $89.00 per
night for these games. The hotel is situated near the market area and the
night life. We ask you to please support the host hotel. EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION: All applications that are postmarked by April 10, 2000, will be eligible
for a $100.00 draw that will take place at the BBQ. MINIMUM TO SCHEDULE AN EVENT: There must be a minimum of five (5) paid applicant or teams in order
for the event to be held. If there are less than three (3) participants
in any age or weight category, participants will automatically be moved
to the lower age or higher weight category. PARTICIPATION LIMITS: The Canadian Law Enforcement Games (host) and the Ontario Law Enforcement
Athletic Association (OLEAA) reserve the right to limit the number of entries
in any sport event. The cut-off will be determined on a first come, first
serve basis. FEE STRUCTURE: The registration fee for each participant in the primary sport event they wish to participate in, is set at $37.45, and each additional sporting event is $5.35. However, we have special fees for certain events such as "Golf", "Billiards" and "Bowling". Please consult these events for the fees. REFUNDS: A full refund will only be made on withdrawal before May 1, 2000, or
if the event is canceled. ENTRY DEADLINE: The entry deadline for applications is May 1, 2000. Any application
received after that date will be subject to a $5.35 late fee. OLEAA reserves
the right to refuse applications after the deadline. NON-PLAYING COACHES: All team events may add a non playing coach who will be eligible to receive
a souvenir item and medal, provided he/she has completed an application
form and paid a $10.00 entry fee. SUBSTITUTION: All substitution must be completed prior to the first competition of
that event. Substitutions for Team events must be made by the Team Captain
and player(s) at the registration desk. CHANGES TO EVENTS: Changes, consistent with the OLEAA rules, such as time, dates, and locations,
may be necessary in conducting the various events. The OLEAA reserves the
right to make such changes. FINAL DECISION: The decision of the Canadian Law Enforcement Games are final unless overruled by the OLEAA. GENERAL SPORTS RULES: The OLEAA rules shall supersede all other rules. If a conflict of rules occurs, including Host's rules, OLEAA will be used and all decisions will be final. TEAM EVENTS: Players may only play on one team per division per sport. CANADIAN FIREARMS LAW: Current Canadian firearms legislation specifically exclude certain types, makes, sizes and calibers of firearms from being imported. Further, magazines for handguns capable of containing more than 10 rounds and magazines for semi-automatic "long guns" capable of containing more than five rounds of the ammunition are prohibited. For further info please contact CLEG. BBQ / SOCIAL: To what is proving to be a great time for all, the BBQ will be held on Friday. The BBQ is free to all the competitors and additional tickets can be ordered when you send your application. Tickets will be made available for pick-up at the BBQ site. For those visiting Ottawa for the first time or for those who are past competritors, we are planning on different outing for your enjoyment.
This year some of the sports have moved to better venues, the cycling road race and the 5 and 10 K race will be held in the Gatineau Park. Not only will the competitors be competing in one of the most beautiful scenic area of the National Capital Region, but it will also be car free.
JUNIOR GAMES (fifth year) The Junior Games are for the younger age group (3-10). This is a non-competitive event. Kids will go through a number of stations with the help of at least one parent. Each child will receive a goody bag and a certificate of participation.
